By Artigellence ·
Central Coast Council's 2026-27 Fees and Charges list a Type A hoarding or scaffolding structure at A$613 base plus A$24 per linear metre per month or part, excluding GST, and a Type B structure at A$923 plus A$93.50. Structures on public land, even temporary ones, need Council's approval, and a straightforward application is usually processed within 14 days. The roof restoration page covers working at height, and the Roof restoration costs and rules check lists every Council line with its source.

What the Council says
Council says the erection of temporary hoarding, scaffolding, fencing or overhead structures on public land may be required to separate and protect persons and property from building construction, building maintenance or other construction activities.
It also says structures located on public land or over a public road, even temporary structures, must have approval from the relevant council or Roads and Maritime Services.
What it costs
The 2026-27 Fees and Charges list a Type A structure at a A$613.00 base rate plus A$24 per linear metre per month or part thereof, and a Type B structure at A$923.00 plus A$93.50 per linear metre per month or part thereof. Both exclude GST.
A formal application must be submitted to Council with the Application for Hoarding and Scaffolding form and the fees paid. A straightforward application is usually processed within 14 days.
Why a roof owner cares
Scaffolding is one of the fall-prevention devices SafeWork NSW lists for roof work, and perimeter guardrails are the best control over a roof edge. Where the scaffold has to stand on the footpath instead of the owner's own land, Council's approval and fee are added to the job.
What to ask the provider
Ask whether the quote assumes scaffolding on public land, and who applies to Council and pays the fee. A job where the scaffold stands wholly on private land does not carry this fee.
